Boeing launch in-flight Wi-Fi

Jumbo jet makers Boeing have announced their plans to provide Wi-Fi Internet access in-flight.

The service will allow users of laptop and PDA computers to send e-mail, surf the Internet or even connect to their company network using a VPN while flying at around thirty thousand feet.

Airline companies are allowing computers and PDA's on flights now? I flew AirTran to Miami last December and they told me I could not use my PDA. I would be more than happy if I could use this time around.

I'm a heavy traveler and i've never been told I could NOT use my PDA or Laptop. I just have to wait until the "approved electronic devices" sign to come on after we take off and stop using it a few minutes before landing. I think being able to have WiFI access on board would be a huge plus and i'd even be willing to pay a slight surcharge to be able to use it.

I agree. I haven't had to leave my home base for awhile, but I am leaving for Miami on the 2nd- flying via AirTran.....Too bad they don't have WiFi. I am glad I'll be able to listen to muzik and play some games to help the time pass
