x50v Upgrade Questions?

I just bought a used x50v. As I am a beginner on PPC, I have the following questions and would like to seek for your valuable advice !

1, With its factory hardware config, is it practical to upgrade it to WM5 ?
2, If yes, is it necessary to do it with the "Dell x50v Upgrade kit" or any WM5 package will work the same ?

I'm no expert, but if I'm hearing you correctly on your second question, only use ROM updates specifically for your device. Get the Dell authorized one and go to town. Anything else will void your warranty (if you have one,) and potientially turn your device into a $400.oo paper weight.

As far as practicality, I never used WM5 so I can't answer you there. From what I have heard though that it does have some issues with third party software, so keep that in mind when considering, or search the boards here and get the skinny from actual users. Either way good luck.

Do NOT upgrade your X50v to WM5. Its hardware does not comply with the software. Dell (HTC) tried, it failed, WM2003 SE is the way to go with the X50 series.
