Active sync disconnects

I am using an Axim X50V, running W2K, and I have used AS 3.71, 3.8, and 4. The Axim initially connects up without problems via the cradle, however, when I install a S/W program (doesn't matter which one), when the program is transfered to the Axim, the connection is lost to the PC. I can not restore the connection unless either I wait for approximately 1-2 minutes for the active sync to start again on the Axim, or I soft reset. Then, the connection will be restored and stay connected, if I am not installing programs for a good 15- 20 minutes, then it disconnects.
I have been trying to isolate the program which may be causing this, however, any program will cause this disconnection, and then the delay in trying to restore the connection. I have hard reset many times, uninstalled AS many times, used different USB ports, no luck. This also happens over bluetooth as well. This is very frustrating at the least. Any ideas are most appreciated.

I am currently experiencing the same issue that you're facing. Did you ever have that problem resolved? Does anyone know what to do? I cannot get in touch with Microsoft support to help. I also heard a comapny Chapura that makes a synchronization program 'pocketmirror' that works well with pocket pc. Any toughts?
