The Second Edition of Windows Mobile 2003 has made some significant changes to Transcriber. Now it defaults back to Alpha Character mode immediately after you make any entry. Example:
You place it in Numeric mode and enter a number like 1234.56, as soon as it "recognizes" it, it will default back to Alpha mode.
So if you made a typo, you must reselect Numeric mode then make the change and it will default back to Alpha mode.
You may think this is a good idea, but consider my problem. We use PDA's to input data in a Power Plant. We input thousands of readings per shift. Now you get the "Pleasure" of changing the Transcriber back to Numeric Mode Inbetween each and every one of these readings.
In the old transcriber, it stayed in what ever mode you like. The new one has no option to disable the "default back to Alpha" "Feature".
Any ideas? A registry hack maybe? Any help would really be appreciated. If I don't come up with a solution, I will get lynched by my coworkers.

Thanks!
