I have ROM version A05 - 07170300en - and it is what came with my x5. Do I need to upgrade? I assume they might consider providing new toys for the x5 some day....
Thanks,
Carla

Yes Sir! It is availible in German on Dell's support site. The file you'll want is R77501.exe. Also, once you apply the ROM update, you won't have to apply and past patches.

Short update ...
Just for giggles, I called Dell Sales yesterday (after contacting their Customer Care and was told they can't answer software-related questions - all I asked was when would the SE update be made available!) The sales rep said she's not seeing the SE update listed as available for sale from Dell just yet. Since it's still so new, she doesn't anticipate it being available for another few months.
I emailed a rep in the Austin office and was told Dell might be waiting to release the SE update in August now (instead of the 30 days he originally told me) - something about wanting to wait for the wireless updates/fixes from Microsoft.
*sigh* I guess I'll go ahead and apply the 5/24 ROM update instead of waiting. (Although, for those of you X5 users, Dell is selling the Win Mobile 2003 upgrade for $26.11, tax/shipping not included.)
More updates when I get some.

Don't feel bad; I did the same thing a week or so ago - called Dell Sales. One helpful dude offered to call me back; I guess he's still searching for the answer. Good grief! If they'd UPDATE their website with information like this; they'd be spared these questions. For the country's major computer mfr, they're really behind in some things. What should we expect from a company that doesn't accept online payment of their bills? At least I got someone I could understand; guess it's only technical support they send overseas.

Actually, from what I've heard, tech support is coming back to the US. Apparently, too many complaints from customers about the level and quality of support from their outsourced team.

Storm -
I called Dell as well and inquired about the X3 SE upgrade. I was finally transferred to parts and accessory sales. The rep asked his supervisor, and he confirmed that the the upgrade will be availible, but there's no ETA.

Will there be an update for the Axim X5? Or am I just being left in the dust?
I would have hoped that Dell learned something with the firist Windows Mobile 2003 update, but apparently they're still acting like the update is nothing. Thank goodness Dell doesn't have this much of an iron grip on their Desktop/Server/Laptop market. I'd probably still be running Windows 98 (not SE) if that was the case... :P

...and down in the description they say:
"Upgrade your PDA with new Windows Mobile Second Edition ver 4.21.1088(build 14260.2.0.2)"
So not for English yet?
