I agree with you. Sure, it offers some enhancements that 2003 doesn't offer. I purchased my x31 in Feb, and I just now have it how I want it. I've purshased a bunch of apps on Handango, and they're all running harmoniously.
Another way to look at it is this: Let's say Dell announced the upgrade today, and made it availible tomorrow. I wouldn't jump on it, because I don't know if it's going to be compatible with all of my 3rd party apps! They're running fine now, and many have just released versions now that are supporting 2003! What if you upgrade and several of the apps you paid for don't work, or crash machine? Just some things to thing about. Also, if someone really wants the landscape view, there's a 3rd party utility that does just that. I'd rather purchase that for 20 than drop 30 or 40 on the 2003 SE upgrade and have several other apps not work.
As I said in another post, I will eventually upgrade, and Dell should offer the upgrade when Microsoft officially releases it. I'm fine with 2003, and when I see units with 2002, I'm grateful for having 2003 (nothing against 2002). I'm very pleased with its features and functionality.
I'll bet there's a bunch of posts for users who upgraded to SE, and now one or 2 of their apps don't work. I can see it now:
"I upgraded to 2003 SE, and now I get an error when I launch 'XYZ' app. It used to work. "Any Suggestions??
It's seriously something to consider! Don't we all remember something called Windows ME!!
