I just got an Axim X5 with PC 2003 Windows. Has anyone got this Avantgo problem figured out? I have had no luck since it won't let me try an earlier version of ActiveSync.

Twice now I have hard reset trying a variety of suggestions and NONE of them have worked. I'm about ready to ship this back to Dell unless I get a solution, especially if this is the sort of support we can expect!

I like the forum now if Dell will take a cue!

I’m also experiencing this problem with my X3i but I have a feeling that it’s a Dell installation issues.

After a hard reset I lost the AvantGo icon and when tapping AvantoGo
in the Internet Explorer home page I only see the default page (//\windows\agdefault.htm). Syncing, etc. works fine but I am unable to view the downloaded pages.

I don’t believe this issue is related to the current Service issue that can be found on the AvantGo website. I believe this is a Dell issue as my Axim did not return to same state it was delivered in after a hard reset.

Hopefully Dell will post a fix???

I am also experiencing this problem with an Axim X3i. The steps I have taken to try to resolve are as follows:

Completely removed Activesync (including avantgo registry items and any files left over).
Hard Reset the device.
Tried another PC

All to no avail - the synchronisation appears to work correctly but going to the Avantgo channels in Pocket IE brings up the file://windows\agdefault.htm page.

Attempting to go directly to the normal avantgo://avantgo/home does not work.

Any help much appreciated.

Same problem here.

Along with the quirky WLAN monitor, the Sandisk problem, and this, I am VERY unhappy with my purchase.

A solution at last! This appears to be a generic problem with Windows Mobile 2003.

To solve this, download the following file, unzip and copy the CAB file to your PPC:

http://www.pc-counselor.com/bin/avantgo.arm.zip

Run the file on your PPC and when prompted if you want to overwrite files, say NO TO ALL.

After competion, resync after selecting the refresh all content in the AvntGo properties in Activesync and all should be well.

Note you may have to replace the AvantGo shortcut in IE favouries to point to avantgo://avantgo/home

I followed your instructions and can now browse my channels without any problems.

PS: Still no response from Dell support!!!

What a headache it has been to get Avantgo to go but No Go until I found this thread.........problem gone.....Avantgo all go

I finally have Avantgo working properly on my Axim5. Thanks a lot to Ian for posting the patch.

I hope Dell doesn't just ignore the problems posted for them to solve.
