Windows Vista is on the horizon. It’s time to start testing its native synchronization abilities.
The test system uses Windows Vista Ultimate RC2 build 5744. Vista turns out to be a charismatic and intuitive new interface for users.
Unfortunately no PIM info sync is available yet. Also, attempting to install even the latest release of ActiveSync, 4.5 beta 2, refuses to install on Vista with its “Program Compatibility Assistant” claiming “This program is blocked due to compatibility issues.”
The PIM sync and AS 4.5 compatibility issues aside, docking the Axim X51v proves not to be in vain. From the native drivers, Vista recognizes the device type, device name, storage locations (color coded for cognitive consumption) with card detection, file browsing, and establishes (surely DRM armored) media synchronization abilities.

You can download an evaluation version of Windows Vista
here from Microsoft. It’s worth a look if you have an extra hard drive on a system with the required specifications.
Update: Microsft seems to have pulled their RC2 candidate from the site and now offers only RC1.
