ActiveSync 4.2 Beta Released

Microsoft has released a beta of the next version update to ActiveSync, 4.2.

On their website, Microsoft says "The ActiveSync 4.2 Beta Preview delivers new features to improve the synchronization experience for customers." No details as to the features themselves are revealed. Before you ask, WiFi synching is still not supported and is not slated to return to ActiveSync.

Installation of ActiveSync 4.2 was easy and I didn't lose any of my device profiles. All of the settings screens are the same as 4.1 and the functionality has been preserved identically. No obvious changes have been made, and the release changes are most likely internal bugfixes.

For those not of the faint of heart, throw yourselves on the sacrificial table as Microsoft's guinea pigs and give it a whirl.

I loaded it up on my puter, and I'm not sure what's new and improved.... Only thing I see is a number 2 after the 4.

hehe.. Works fine too ! I unistalled it when I was trashing my computer and reinstulled 4.1, that would work with my Dell, so I instulled the update 4.2beta and it worked fine.

Good find. Works like a charm. It seems to sync faster compared to AS 4.1.

I have the Axim X50. After after numerous problems of getting the WiFi card to work, several hard resets and having to reload different progams, Active Sync works fine on the day I load it. Then when I try to sync with my pc again it will stay connected long enough to sync and then it loses the connection. I have it set to maintain the connection while sync. Any clues as to what is going on?
