Mike Wehrs, director of technology and standards for Microsoft's Mobility Division, has given an overview of some of the features that will be added to a future version of Windows Mobile.
This includes voice control, intelligent power management, and more, according to ComputerWeekly.com.
Voice Control
Mr. Wehrs said that voice control will eventually be a part of the operating system. This will allow users to control many of the features of their handheld or smartphone by speaking to it, rather than with buttons or a stylus.
Microsoft considered adding this feature to Windows Mobile 2003, but the corresponding APIs would need to change when the next major version of Windows Mobile comes out. When developers were asked their opinions, they agreed with Microsoft that delaying this feature was the best course.
Microsoft currently makes an application, called Voice Command, that brings voice control to today's Pocket PCs.
