Those who are looking forward to an upgrade to Pocket PC 2003 may want to rethink their position. It appears that many Pocket PC 2002 applications are not compatible with Pocket PC 2003. I do not have a list of applications, though I am testing some. The update from PPC 2003 to PPC 2003 appears to be a major OS update, and may require that applications be recompiled for it. I do not have any concrete information at this time, but I wanted to give the forum a heads up on this."

When you consider that Pocket PC 2003 is based on Windows CE .NET 4.2, it's not surprising that some applications will not work - it's a whole new core OS, so any app that tapped into a portion of the OS that has since changed will fail.

That would be unfortunate, but almost every os upgrade affects some of the installed base of software.

Why do they have to make things more complicated.Things are suppose to get easier as technology progresses. Or so i thought!

That's a very interesting theory. If only it would work that way!

From what I've heard (from coworkers whom was at the MS Mobile Conference in Paris and that has tested the pre-release of PPC2003) all software works on PPC2003, but software that will be developed espesially for PPC2003 will not work on PPC2002...

Like Agenda Fusion for example, version 5 will have features that only work on PPC2003 as I understand (this is just a rumor, don't sue me on it).

don't get me wrong...I do like my Axim but, this sure has turned out to be one money sucking machine already. I swear sometimes I think I can hear it sitting on the cradle saying "buy me something now". To upgrade to 2003 and possibly stumble into compatibilty issues...ugh!! (but, it's expected)

It's like the ink jet printers...not much for the printer but ink costs make a bundle for the manufacturers.
