Re m-Vision video subscription service going live on Pocket PC
The Board of Directors of GoConnect Ltd (“GCN”) is pleased to advise that after 12 months of development, the company’s m-Vision service has now gone live and is available for subscription online.
Over the past 12 months, GCN has been very focused in its business development with the objective to establish a strong and early presence in the newly emerging “Mobile Media” industry for handheld devices with wireless Internet connectivity. Working closely with Microsoft, the GCN development team has now successfully delivered a unique wireless GoTrek application for the Pocket PC and Pocket PC phone markets that will enable these devices to be converted to portable video players with video content updated online regularly by the m-Vision service either over fixed-line or wireless Internet, and viewable by the subscribers anytime, anywhere even when they are offline.
The m-Vision service is now live and consumers with a Pocket PC from anywhere in the world can now go online to
www.m-vision.tv to subscribe to the service for a price as low as $10 a month subject to the terms of subscription. A variety of video content including business and entertainment programs are provided by the m-Vision service. Local content for specific regions have been secured and additional local content are also under negotiation in order to cater to as many international subscribers’ interest as possible.
Since the recent announcement of the company’s agreement with Australia’s largest WiFi hotspot operator, Xone Pty Ltd, as the first step in the company ‘s WiFi business strategy, the m-Vision service has generated wide online media publicity particularly from news groups related to handheld devices and the WiFi industry. International visitations to the m-Vision site have been growing daily and rapidly, indicating a growing interest in this service.
For GCN, the launch of m-Vision represents not just a unique service powered by the patented GoTrek technology of the company, more significantly, it represents an additional revenue source from a global market for the company. While 2003 is likely to see about 120,000 Pocket PCs sold in Australia, our research for the global market indicates that approximately 10 million Pocket PCs will be sold this year. As m-Vision is now available for subscription online, the company’s target market will be global rather than just the Australian market.
