Casio Launches Rugged Handhelds

Casio Thursday unveiled two rugged handheld computers targeted at the retail, health care and restaurant industries, among others.

Casio envisions retailers using its DT-X10 (left) and IT-500 handhelds to issue receipts for products and order supplies while on the shop floor. It could be used in hospitals, the company said, to enter diagnostic data and manage drug administration. Additional uses could include patrol and inspection; market research; and route sales.
