Couldn't you just move the backup file using ActiveSync explorer off of your Axim and place it on your HDD? That is.....if you are near your Desktop/Laptop.
This is what I have done in the past.

I guess it would all depends on how much space you have for your backup, and on what type of backup you're doing.
The Axim backup utility will only backup to Storage - File or external memory storage.

It creates the file with an extention of .dbk
I ran the backup utility and put the file in Built-in Storage, but it was like 6 meg so I decided to use ActiveSync explorer to take it off my Axim and put it on my harddrive. If I needed to do a restore, I could, in theory, put it back on my Axim and run Restore.
I modified this post, it is an extention of .dbk NOT .stg. Sorry for the confusion

Thanks guys for your input. I'll give it a try and then update my Axim.

if everything you have on the Axim is on your computer (meaning that everything is fully synced) would you still need to backup the data? If so, why?
Thank you for the help.

I may have missed something here, but I backup to my Hard drive using Active Sync.
Just use the desktop Active Sync window and click on Tools | Backup/Restore and then choose the location under, "Back up to this file:".
I store the backup in the ActiveSync\Profiles folder on my C: drive.
I hope this helps and I didn't misread something here.

Also, as soon as a couple of you try the ROM upgrade post your results here. All is running perfectly on my AXIM and I hate to fix it if it ain't broke!

I wonder what this means:
Support for C1 stepping of Intel XScale CPU
Does that mean we might see some performance improvements? Can someone do a benchmark before and after?
I'll get to it when I upgrade my ROM.

I am with Eloyd on that. I like to upgrade, but this appears to be Dells first attempt at a ROM update. Let us know about your results if you "take the plunge" and update your ROM.

I've already upgraded, and everything seems to be fine.
