Decision Problem. GPS
Hi,
I have an X51v running WM5.0 ROM 12. I see lots of information here about unofficial upgrades to WM6. What is the difference between the football and the Lenny upgrades? Which is the most stable. I use the PDA as a music source so have hacked the Bluetooth stereo profile to work. Is the stereo headset bluetooth profile work in both Lenny and Football?
Please help a confused user.
Thanks
Keith

I've tried both Football and Lenny ROMs and I don't remember any particular problems with either. I think (I may be wrong) that Lenny's is more up-to-date, and that's the one I've been using for maybe six months. I do suffer occasional glitches, but I have absolutely no idea if they're conencted to the ROM - it may just be a contention among the various programs that I have installed. The worst is the occasional dead X51v where nothing works even though I know the battery is charged - but a removal of the battery and soft reset gets it back to normal every time. The only thing I lose is date & time, but the sync with my PC fixes that in seconds.
I'd recommend Lenny's 6.1. If you have a 128MB RAM version (I have the 64MB) then you might try Lenny's 6.5 - I can't because it doesn't run well on the smaller memory.
Good luck...

Dah, seems like your capacitor, the x51's version of a backup battery has had it. Theres an app that will store the time and date info in RAM whilst you change out the battery. I think the developers online name is mikelspikel, search that and you'll probably find it.
As for @Khowie's question, I always preferred the pure rom cooked by Maaku, WinMo 6.1. It has none of the frippery that the lenny roms have added to them. Lot's of freeware that you can't remove because they are incorporated into the axim's OS. Maaku picked up where Football left off.

Thanks, Pedah. I remember reading about that app, but never got round to downloading it. I'll have a look. And when I can summon the enthusiasm for all the reinstalling I'll have a go with Maaku's ROM as well. Thanks for the tips.

Found it in your post on this site...
Need to reset time and date whne chabging batteries
Unfortunately it won't work for me, since I need it only when my machine goes dead, in which case of course I can't take the date/time backup beforehand... but for planned outages it's a very handy little app.

Good evening,
just joined the forum and I was wondering if anyone can help? I own a Dell Axim X50 and I have just purchassed maps from Garmin of North America. Do I need to install them or is it just a matter of inserting the Mini SD card (in an SD adapter) into the Axim? I have inserted the SD card and the Axim is not recognising it. Please help. Thanks.
