Activesync, unstable? Can you keep it working no matter What?
Active sync has always been unstable for me. I have gotten to a stage again where I am probably going to have to hard reset again to sync. So I test things, I install lots of apps I try to find out more about what this PPC can do. But it seems that AS can't take it. Backup hasn't fixed it. Who has the ultimate tip to keep AS working?
The Idea is to post advice on the best way to keep your AS working, how you have found to keep it stable and reliable.
Just any ideas, suggestions or even ESP, let's share cause this app is querky
?

AS has always worked well for me. I've had the occasional PDA sets up new profile every time with older versions, but 4.5 just seems to work even with 3 PDAs hooking up randomly over a USB hub. I don't sync email (can get this anywhere anyways), only calendar, notes, and favorites. I don't want a pile of old emails stored on any of my PDAs. I don't sync often and allow my weather program to update via wifi instead of cradling. When I do cradle it works fine.
The X51v hasn't been hard reset since A12 came out (almost a year ago) and I use it every single day. I even install programs that people on this site have problems with and remove them when I'm done. The platforms seem stable but maybe it's just because I'm an old IT guy...

It's a really interesting problem, I did a hard reset yesterday and restored from backup, and my problems returned. Quick power drain of battery, full power off seemed like backlight was just dimming and on restart WSOD, I just spent the last couple of hours reinstalling everything, BUT I had SPB pocket plus and SPB mobile shell installed together and I think the plugins eventually mucked each other up, combined with all of the other software I had installed. My problems included No sync[always an error when plugging in device] No full power off[screen would dim but you could still see screen very faint] WSOD on restart, have to soft reset on startup, and lots of notification messages to clog the system. I have reinstalled everything except adobe reader .2, the ax won't let me? but everything is humming again.
Software conflicts are what I'm attributing it to, I reinstalled everything in the same order as the last time, with the exception of pocket plus:azz: Who Knows?

I too have Spb Pocket Plus and Spb Mobile Shell installed but without problems. Lots of other software as well, and I swap out SD cards when I want to run different applications. Swap often, no problems.
There must be an application that is causing the drain and sync problems.

More on this, the problems I listed were not there before I did the HR and restore from backup, just could not sync. One other significant thing that was happening was the wifi icon was intermittantly looking like the ax was scanning for wifi networks, although the wifi was disabled. I thought I might have inadvertantly enabled OD client, which led me to the notifications, but they all referred to calender and tasks, but were quadrupled. I was trying out the new version of wififofum, so I have reverted to the trusty wifi companion. and all seems fine.
Now that I have reinstalled all the programs that I use on a daily basis I have backed up, and now to reinstall the things that might have been causing the conflict, and to try Adobe reader install again.
One thing I did glean from this is a little AS tip, I have had AS at one stage rename my ax, and I have had to delete partnerships more than once to get axim to sync. Having a dig around in the file system I found
My computer/C: drive/Documents and Settings/[Your User Name]/Application Data[hidden file]/Microsoft/Activesync/profiles and there was a file there for all of the profiles that had been set up previously, even the partnership I had just deleted, so I deleted all those files, and I got the setup new partnership wizard the next time I connected the axim, before that the wizard wouldn't start and I kept getting shunted to connected as guest.
Any way time to play some more.
