I'm back. I don't like my Palm TX. Help.
Hi all. A week or so ago I had a frustration meltdown over my inability to connect My Axim X51v to my computers. I bought a Palm TX and relegated my X51v to use as a personal media center. I professed that I was through with WM5 and ActiveSync forever. I told Mahstah thanks for the help but no thanks. After a week or so working with the less capable and less versatile TX, all the while comparing it to the X51v, well, let's say I've pried my foot out of my mouth, packed up the TX for return, am apologizing for my tantrum and am hoping my behavior is not unprecedented and so may be overlooked at least once anyway. I am going to embark on another quest to connect and sync my X51v. I am really swamped with work and have very little time to contine fighting with this. As I mentioned it's been one ActiveSync problem after another for months. I keep running the troubleshooter and the log says nothing is wrong. I have set up Zone Alarm exactly as MS suggests on my laptop. I have made exceptions for all ActiveSync functions on my desktop firewall (Corporate IT controlled). Of course up until a few weeks ago everything was syncing fine, then NOT.
Does anyone know of a technical specialist, developer or WM5 expert in Orange County, CA preferably between Oceanside and Newport Beach that would like to earn some support money from a truly desperate user?

Welcome back, fux. I would suggest looking for a private local home visitation computer service. I personally operate one in MI. Stay away from the Geek Squad (sorry to any Squadders out there). They do not specialise in anything but profiteering (management's fault, not the Squadders). Make sure the service you choose has experience with PPCs.

Stay away from ZoneAlarm and use Sygate instead, don't stay away from the Axim. I learned that lesson a while ago.

I already tried the Geek Squad. Nice guy! He was stumped for an hour. Left without charging me.

nadoj,
Unfortunatly I've got 5 laptops and desktops running ZA. No problems with any of them, except for an inability to connect with AcviveSync. If I can't resolve this I will look into Sygate. Thing is I was syncing fine, then not, then fine, then not. It's like a loose connection somewhere that makes and breaks contact depending on the phase of the moon, or some other random ridiculous impossible association.

Have you tried fully shutting down between multiple sinks? Or even a soft reset between different PC. If AS is caught up between an old sink partner and a new one I find it hangs, either third party everything off or soft reset seems to resolve sinking. (probably not a fix but it works for me with two computers, AS seems to not want to recognise one computer from the other if it is running in background on ax)

I had a siomilar problem some time ago.
Then the only way to help it, was uninstalling the firewall software and AS.
I had to install both of them again, but AS must have been the first one to be installed and only after AS, I installed firewall.
Hope that helps.

Wonder if it got fixed. I would try shutting down ZA and seeing if there were any trouble syncing then. That would certainly prove or disprove ZA as the culprit.

I went back to 2003 se v. 4.21.1088 and it fixed all my issues. I am really scared to "upgrade" and lose functionality again. Can you downgrade?

What device do you have DrMark? If an X50/X50v, then you can downgrade to 2003 but it sounds like you already did that. I suggest not using WM5 on the X50 series. On the X51/X51v, you cannot run 2003, only WM5 but it is stable on the latest ROM (A12).
