Really really slow Outlook sync

Greetings all,
I bought my wife a new X51 for Christmas, and I have set it up to sync with the Outlook client on her notebook PC. I set this up last night and started the sync process. Now I understand that syncing can require a little time to complete, but it took over 9 hours to completely sync. I watched as it uploaded messages from the PC, and they were going at a rate of about 1 every 2-3 seconds. Is this normal? At that rate even if she has a normal (for her) amount of e-mail to sync up every day, it will take about half an hour. We are syncing via the cradle and USB 2.0 connection. Can anyone shed any light on this?

FYI, software is Activesync 4.2 with latest ROM version on the X51

Hi Bytor, and welcome to the forum.

A few suggestions:

Try ActiveSync 4.5 Beta 2.

Disable all firewalls, check to see if the long sync time persists, and correct firewall settings if they disappear.

Have you installed the X51v driver rollup package?

Edit: Are you syncing via USB hub or docking station? If so, try connecting directly to the laptop via its USB port.

Thanks for the welcome.

I did look at the windows firewall, and it appeared to have all the correct entries there, so I made no changes. I'll try disabling it entirely and see if that helps. I am using the docking station to sync, I'm not sure if it came with a direct USB cable? As it's the X51, I didn't install anything for the X51v, shouyld I have?

Even with entries in the firewall it's a good idea to disable it just to test. If the laptop is a P3 or greater, it has USB ports on the side or back. Try plugging the Axim into those instead of the docking station. The driver rollup package for the X51/X51v is here:

Did you make sure that the email and all attachement are not in synchro list? Even so, 9hr is too long.
