memory question on axim x51v

I just got an axim x51v and it is great! I was wondering about the memory and should it be at about 20meg usage even if there are no programs running? and also, can anyone recommend a good program for moving between programs, closing programs and seeing your power and memory usage on the today screen. Also, after you finish sync your axim should you turn the power off before taking it off the cradle or does it matter at all..

Your memory usage is standard because the OS requires RAM to run, just like your desktop.

Pocket Plus is the program you're looking for with your today screen requirements. No, it doesn't matter if you turn off (go to standby) your PPC before undocking.
