Synch Center Conversion

Please bear with me...I'm brand new to the forum.
I have an Axim X30 running Windows Mobile 2003 SE. I just got a new computer running Vista and when I synch my Axim using synch center, all of the documents synch on my laptop as ".pwi" files that I can't open in Word. Can anyone tell me how to convert them to Word?

Those files are pocket Word format. Are you sure you're not copying the files over as opposed to syncing them? If you copy you will be copying the pwi file to your desktop, if you sync they should convert to .doc during the sync process. There are settings for what file types you want to convert in the device center. You may also want to be wary of the Office 2007 .docx format.

Thanks for the help...I uninstalled Mobile Device Center then re-installed, then synch'd (not copied) again to make sure. When I synch'd the docs from my Axim were saved as .psw files on my laptop. I was able to open them with Word 2007, but got a "file conversion" dialogue box when I tried to open them up. Any more suggestions?

I see what's going on now. The files you're syncing aren't Word, they're Notes. Pocket Notes files are pwi and Pocket Word files are psw. Since you don't have a notes compatible app on your PC the best way to open those files might be to copy the info to pocket Word out of the Notes documents and then sync the Pocket Word file to your PC. Those will convert properly into a format your PC can read.
