Greetings,
For those looking for a IM client that works on all the major services (AOL, Yahoo, MSN), Agile messenger appears to work.
http://www.agilemobile.com
First off, there are a few different versions of Agile Messenger that can be had:
v3.0 Beta versions:
Agile Messenger 3 ALPHA for Windows Mobile 5.0 Smartphone and Smartphone 2003 .EXE | CAB
Agile Messenger 3 BETA for Windows Mobile 5.0 PPC & Windows PPC 2003 .EXE | CAB
Former v2.0 Release Version can be found here.

I've included the former v2.0 version as I was unable to connect all three (AOL, YAHOO, MSN) IM's with a prior beta release, with the PPC59 release this seems to be fixed.
I like that the developers included BOTH .EXE and .CAB file installation options as I prefer to use .CAB installs. I installed the program over the prior version and oddly, it saved only 2 of the three login/password information. I simply reentered my username/password.
Note: Installed the program, as I do ALL programs to my SD card which appears to work fine, however each time my Ax51v is powered up or 'woke up' a 'unable to find/execute /sdcard/agile.exe' message appears on the screen. (it appears that Agile adds an entry for itself in the autostart list)
The program runs fine when manually started and this little 'gotcha' can be avoided by installing to main memory.
Once installed, Agile will install a Today Screen helper, which can be used for accessing the program, seeing how many friends are online as well as how many messages you have waiting for you.
The program is VGA aware and renders
Beautifully on my Ax51v.
Other than that, it operates as a IM client. Much like "Trillian" for the desktop, this client works for all the major IM services which makes less programs to futz with and/or possibly less Today Screen realestate taken up.
I've used this program for a few weeks now without any compatibility or crashes. All the versions for the PPC are currently FREE while other IM clients for the PPC cost upwards of $40.
Additional comments: Now that I've used Agile messenger for a number of weeks, I find that it has one GLARING feature omition:
there is NO ignore list!!. For many people this may not be a problem, however I find myself getting "IMSpam" 1-2 times a day and find it very annoying, even more so when I can't BLOCK the spam or just set the messenger clients to "ONLY GET MESSAGES FROM PEOPLE ALREADY ON MY CONTACT LIST".
So, in conclusion, it works and is free, what more can you ask for?
