I have had my X30 for over a year and have installed and uninstalled many different programs.
When I place my X30 in the cradle, I get an error message on my PC. I know that somewhere on my PC, is an initialization file for ActiveSync. If I can locate it and edit it in Wordpad, I can stop these irritating error messages. Until I click on ok, it holds up the actual syncronization process.
Help, please??!?
Thanks ahead of time.

I would not play arround with the Activesync files. It is far better and easier to delete Activesync completely and reinstall a fresh download of 3.8 or just to update Activesync to 3.8.
If this does not solve the problem, please let us know what the actual error message says

Thanks for the tip. I upgraded to 3.8. However, the problem still exists.
I have attached a BMP file that shows the error message that pops up.
I remain convinced that it is just something I could edit out of an .INI file, if I knew where it is and what it is named.
Thanx

Okay, so I can't add .bmp files. Let's try a .JPG file.

Did you upgrade or delete Activesync and do a fresh install. I would do a fresh install, that should resolve the problem

Just curious. What would a total delete and re-install do to my back up files and any settings I have made?
How will I get to set up my pda without having to set up a new partnership?
If I went through guest partnership and then tried to open my pda's backup file wouldn't it be gone?
Will a new install recognize my pda as is and allow me to transfer everything from the pda to the pc and then do a full backup of the pda?
Thanx
Alan
PS I truly appreciate you input, but wouldn't it be easier to edit the .ini file for activesync in wordpad and be done with it, that is if a separate .ini file exists for activesync?

I think a delete and reinstall would remove all back ups, but you could hive these off to Cd first if you wished, what is created is a standard file that you can copy as normal, you just need to locate it on your PC.
If you reinstall and call your PDA the same as before ( and set the time and dats data the same), then you should be able to reinstall the back up.
Yes, a new install should recognise your PDA as is and allow a full back up.
Regarding the modification of the Ini file. I've not herd of anyone doing this to resolve such a problem as this seems fairly unique.
If you really want to look for this ini file, I you can do a search for all ini files on you PC. However, it is only your assumption that editing could solve the problem, it could also make it worse !!!
Obviously you are concerned about looking backup data, so why not either back up to another PC first of find your back up files on your PC and save these as suggested, then do a delete and re install.
