Hey everyone, first post.
Before I go off on my new toy (I sure have a lot to learn), I'd like to say this is a great site and I know I'll learn a lot here.
I'm a new Axim X3i user. Got in on a deal for a refurbed X3i for $166.
So far, I like the style of the system, I just can't seem to do squat with it!
The first thing I did, was get it connected to my wireless network. It took me a while to find the MAC address through the menus, but once I got it, the Axim jumped on the network just fine.
My next goal was to play an mp3 file over my network. Connected to a network share was tedious, because I had to type everything. But once I found the mp3 files I wanted, I tapped it and nothing happened. The only thing I could do is rename, cut or copy it.
Next, I tried opening up Media Player and just opening the file from there. Again, TEDIOUS! I could not browse for the file. Instead, I had to type out: \\dually\e\mp3s\dave matthews band\crash\03 - dave matthews band - under the table and dreaming.mp3
...there has got to be a better way.
In any case, I get the error message: "Windows Media Player cannot open this type of file."
?? Right in the help menus it says it can open .wma and .mp3 files. All I have to do is "tap" it.
What gives??
