As of last night at 6 pm. EDT, Yahoo made changes to its instant messenging protocol/language to prevent third party IM clients from connecting to its service. So, if you use Pocket Yahoo!, Agile Messenger, or another third party application to connect to the YIM service, it will no longer work. I've already seen people complaining that P Yahoo! and Agile are no longer able to connect to Yahoo!
Below is a link to the CNET news story
Yahoo! Language Change
My assumption (and hope) is that Agile will update it's client to reflect the new language that Yahoo! has implemented, however, the article mentions that they are going to change the protocol frequently to prevent 3rd party clients from connecting. Thus, a new client may only work for a week or so before the protocol is changed again.
Why doesn't Yahoo! just release a client for the Pocket PC? >_<

Ya know, I feel the same way. Why don't they just release a PPC version of their messenger? That would be so much easier. They're claiming it's because of the spam that's coming from the one service, but I believe that it is because too many users connect with a non Yahoo! IM client, and they don't like that, which I guess I can understand. You know what makes me even more mad? I can get to Yahoo! Messenger on my Cell phone, but not on my Axim!!!

Well, there's been a glimmer of light . . . Agile released a new version of their client, and you can once again connect to Yahoo! via Agile. Download the latest version for your specific Pocket PC platform at this site!!

Does anyone have problems with Agile Messenger not being able to connect ??
I can soft reset, open AM, register a yahoo account name and connect.... however if I now try to un-register that account and register a new one, or register a MSN account it will never connect using that newly registered account? Is that by design? Now if I soft reset again and register the new account name it works... i hardly want to soft reset to change yahoo id's!!!!
I love it other than that problem... I have the latest version from their site running on a Dell Axim x3i
any thoughts??

I think I can solve this for you. The account settings for AM are stored in a registry key in HKCU - Software - AgileMessenger. Either delete the key and start over, or modify the values within the key to reflect your new account settings. I deleted the entire key, and I simply had to re-enter my account information. It thinks you still have the old account in the registry.
To modify your registry, first do a complete backup of your Axim. Then, you'll need a registry editor if you don't already have one. My favorite is PHM, and its free. You can get it here.
To Delete the entire key, open PHM, navigate to the HKCU - Software - AgileMessenger Key. Tap and hold on the AgileMessenger folder, and tap "delete". Tap yes to confirm. Then, soft reset, and start AM. You will have to re-enter any IM account info.
Hope this helps!!

wooch,
I tried to install PHM registry editor, there seems to be an issue with ActiveSynch 3.7 and his newsgroup post says to just use the CAB files to install, I looked through the CAB file and nothing executable in there?? Any idea on how to install with A/S 3.7????

Corbin -
Copy the .cab file to your My Documents folder on your Axim. Once copied, navigate to the My Documents folder using File Explorer, and tap the .cab file to start the install. The .cab file will delete itself when the install is complete. Then, launch PHM Registry Editor by tapping start - programs - PHM RegEdit icon
