Searching: WLAN Searching Utility FREEWARE

Hi guys

Is there a freeware utility that scans constantly for WLANS for Windows Mobile 2003?
Anyone can recommend a good soft?

Hey I've only had my x3i for about 1 month now. Scanning constantly would seem to be quite a drain, but my exprience so far is that while the wireless is "enabled" it does scan until it finds a network. Mine's found both a private company provider and 3 "freespots" that way. Just a thought and maybe I was just lucky, but not sure that you need a software to do that..

I found a free/old version of PockerWarrior on Sourceforge. Works great on 2002 axim 5....

You guys need to be careful with your scanning, i'm not trying to be silly but i've read stories of companies leaving access points open so that people with war scanning software will use them and then they can get caught and prosecuted. It is my understanding that war scanning is illegal in most states. I myself use the wlan utility built into the axim (that came with it) and just hit refresh several times to find access points. I have noticed that several of my neighbors have unsecured networks I just dont' try and connect to them. Good luck.

Yeah, they are called "Honeypots".

I use pocket winc from cirond.com . Its not exactly freeware, but you can downloada 30 day free trial. I purchased it to check signal strengths (and security) of wifi networks that I set up. Pocket winc can be set to scan continually or in preset increments. Basically, you are only limited by your battery life.
Disclaimer: I do not make a practice of jumping on open networks, but I have noticed a SIGNIFICANT number of open networks around where I live. Pocket Winc has actually helped generate more work for me when I go to a business and tell them that their network is open and I will be glad to secure it....for a fee. -_-
