Thread: Windows Mobile Phone that syncs ALL the information with my Axim X30?

Windows Mobile Phone that syncs ALL the information with my Axim X30?

Has anyone found one that is worth using? This means it can actually sync all information and doesn't crash all the time and is a reliable phone. I would prefer to sync it with Outlook 7 on a PC running Windows XP.

I've never had a problem syncing Windows Mobile Phones, since WinMo 6.1 any way I've currently got the Touch Diamond 2 and the HTC HD2. Now the HD2 is probably the very best Windows Mobile phone ever made, very reliable and well made.

Thanks for the response, Pedah. Can the phone read your notes (.pwi)? I have a bunch of info in this format. Also, I am stuck with Verizon as a provider...which phone would you recommend that can be used on their network?

Yes, all your old winmo office stuff is supported, It's still windows mobile after all, albeit 6.5 version. As for Verizon, they carried the Touch Pro 2, which has a 3.6" screen and a slide out qwerty landscape keyboard. I still think the HTC HD2 is tha best replacement for an Axim thouigh, big screen, 1 Ghz snapdragon processor, 576 Mb ram, 512 Mb internal storage, SD expandable up to 32 Gb. GPS, Wifi accelerometer Bluetooth. 4.3" capacitive touch screen. I would suggest Amazon or Ebay and getting an unlocked phone, if verizon is phasing out windows mobile, with the launch of Windows Phone 7 expected early 2011 for them.

Again, thanks for the response. I qualify for a free upgrade and Verizon is offering the following WM phones for free or under $50.

    LG Fathom
    Samsung Omnia II
    HTC Imagio
    HTC Oxone

Do you recommend any of them? Also, perhaps it would be better to wait until the windows seven phones come out on Verizon and use my upgrade for one of these. I assume all my info would sync with a Windows Seven phone as well?

Finally, if I were to buy an unlocked HTC HD2, how would I install the window operating system on it?

Of the three phones you mention there the hands down winner would be the Fathom, but still rather outdated specs wise now. As for windows phone 7, it's a whole different kettle of fish, the whole interface has changed, and even syncing is very different, really big big learning curve there, but I'll have more to say about that next week on my Blog. Although you know you are going to get a minimum hardware specification that is very good. When I talk about an unlocked HD2, I mean it's not carrier branded, does not have verizon bloatware installed on it, but comes straight from HTC, everything is installed, it can just be used with any sim, on any carrier. You would not be tied to a contract that pays for the phone, and could probably even go pre paid, or pay as you go I think they call it in the US.

So you're saying the HTC HD2 would come with a windows mobile operating system already installed on it? OK, could be good. Yeah, I've been reading about how the new windows phones don't sync with Outlook...that is just shocking to me.

Yeah, it's a Windows Mobile phone, 6.5 in fact, but there are plenty of custom ROMs for it at XDA developers as well. Simply, out of the box a carrier unbranded HD2 will give you the purest Windows Mobile experience with HTC's custom skin Sense!
