If you’re looking for an alternative soft keyboard to use with your Pocket PC, TopKey by PDAMill might just be the soft keyboard for you because you can customize it, and it comes with a built-in Self Learning Predictive Input.
Installation:
The installation for TopKey is via ActiveSync, but prior to installation, it will extract files to your HDD and then proceed with the installation.
The extracted files can safely be uninstalled from the Add or Remove Programs of Windows.
Customization
There are over 40 predefined keyboard language layouts, and a quick-change key to switch from one layout to another. You may also customize the keyboard layouts to suit your needs with its built-in layout editor.
TopKey Language Setting
Layout Editor
The keyboard supports the following languages layout, Albanian, Azeri, Belgian, Bulgarian, Canadian, Czech, Danish, Dutch, English, Estonian, Faeroese, Finnish, French, German, Greek, Hebrew, Hungarian, Icelandic, Irish, Italian, Kazakh, Kyrgyz, Latin, Latvian, Lithuanian, Macedonian, Mongolian, Norvegian, Polish, Portugese, Romanian, Russian, Serbian, Slovak, Slovanian, Spanish, Swedish, Swiss (French), Swiss (German), Turkish, Ukranian, US-Dvorak
The keyboard layout also comes with 4 different skins. I prefer the black color with bold letters. Oh by the way, PDAMill will come out with a skin applicator, so that you may create your own keyboard skin.
Input
Self-Learning Predictive Input - This could probably the best feature of TopKey out from the box. It has the ability to predict and suggest three different words at the same time. The default keyboard that comes with Pocket PC can only predict and suggest.
The Self-Learning Predictive Input also learns the word that you use all the time. For instance, I wanted to type the name “Alexandra”, and it gave me “Alexander” as a prediction when I imputed the first four letters (Alex). After ignoring the prediction, the next time I typed the word “Alex”, both “Alexander” and “Alexandra” was a selection.
Alexandra or Alexander?

Preloaded Predictive Database languages are English, French, German, Spanish, Italian, Russian
Wish List:
Make the font size for the keyboard workable. Although I really didn’t need to change the font from its default size (13), changing it to the different sizes didn’t make a difference.
Conclusion:
I have been using Letter Recognition for some time now because I didn’t find the built in keyboard useful, but PDAMill TopKey brought me back in using a soft keyboard. The last couple of days of using this product, I’ve realized that I’ve entered information faster than Letter Recognition, thanks to its Predictive Input. You may want to try the 14-day trial prior to purchasing, and see if it would make a difference, but overall, I recommend this product.
Now I wonder if PDAMill is working on a Letter Recognition that has a Predictive Input also.
