There are VoIP programs for PPC. I haven't got one set up yet. I guess you could use it as a mobile phone that way. :wacko:

Dell UK sell the Audiovox RTM-8000 Tri-Band GSM/GPRS Compact Flash card. You can use your PDA as either a mobile phone, or GPRS for internet. Just plug you phone sim into it to access the phone network.
Im sure their are other devices about too.

I am currently using Skype (skype.com) and it works fantastic on my X3i. Give it a try!

Anyone tried FWD (free world dialup) yet? One advantage over skype is it is based on SIP instead of P2P technology. So connection to other SIP phones is possible. There is beta testing of FWD to packet8 VoIP going on now. Lets say you use the packet8 at home for VoIP and load FWD on your PDA, you can call home (or any other packet8 phone) from any wifi connection.
I have been reading that there is a lot of PSTN access numbers popping up in the US for dialing into SIP or FWD phones from a landline. Michigan seems to have the most at this time. See following links for info.

I guess no one has tried a (F)ree(W)orld(D)ialup VoIP software yet.

Anyone tried this yet? I have the camera for my axim. Looks like you might be able to make video VoIP calls with it.

A company called 'ineen' has video Voip for the Pc, coming out with version for PPC sometime later. It looks like Xten's software.
