I share your one world paranoia. imagine if MS really ran the world....hmmm could the entire planet freeze? And if it did, how would we reboot? Is it possible i might just disapear like that three hour project that just went down the tubes?
The MS reader only needs activation if you want to read "premium" products. You can read free books w/o activation. BTW I have moved my "paid" books around and backed them up and reloaded them all with nary a problem. so, doesnt' sound like much of an issue.
Or, Hey do what i did/have done/will do again. create fictional accounts. flood the world with inaccurate information about who and what you are. Be creative; be a 98 year old blind woman marathoner with the handle spinerchick@hotmail.com (sorry to be so un-P.C. to all chicks, but especially regarding all 98 year old women marathoners). if you are really paranoid, then buy time at an internet cafe or the library to create the accounts. keep your spy software on high alert and go with it.
Me? I feel completely comfortable giving misleading information to anyone who wants to market to me with the kind of privacy stripping internet tools now available.
Sooner (rather than later), this medium will have to have some regulation in the same way cable and satillite tv will need to regulate what information can legally be gathered, stored and used to market to any American.
One final note, with any new hotmail account, you are guaranteed to get and remember, these are all absolutely FREEE!!! lots of Viagra ads, help with your credit card debt, invitations to vile, disgusting pornagraphy, and of course offers to refinance your house. personally I am waiting till a some vile pornographer offers to sell me cheap insurance while refinancing my house while paying off my credit card debt with free viagra as an incentive.

I have two other Hotmail accounts, but none of them are receiving junk mail. I might be doing something right.

OK you readers are going to love this one...I would remove MS Reader if I thought it wouldn't mess up something else.
Go to http://www.gowerpoint.com/ and get "uBook".
It is a freebie and reads most any files, except LIT files...which is why I don't have any.
I was a big reader on the old Handspring Visor and have many books in PDB format. That was the one thing that I was really undecided on before buying the AXIM, but with uBook it is not a problem. (And yes you can convert everything to LIT, but it takes a while and it is a mutlti-step process.
It has MANY more settings to work with including background/text/link colors, fonts, and it sets up a Table of Contents according to their defaults or ones you create.
I think this program is at the high end.

You must be doing something right. I've got hotmail and the amount of spam is incredible. I have come to the conclusion that "MSN" stands for "Multitude Spam Network". I have a yahoo and it hardly has any spam.
I never knew there were so many lonely housewives out there until I got hotmail, and all of them will give me viagra and refinance my credit cards with the proceeds of the money I'm getting when I help that poor Nigerian fellow.

Elyod, thanks for the post!
BTW everyone, I too will be a retired individual in the next few weeks. I gave all my personal savings to that nice man who promised to give me millions. I also embezeled about a million dollars from my law firm, just like that lady I heard about on the news. BUT I AM GOING TO REALLY GET PAID. NO, REALLY!

From paranoia to Viagra ... darn this Axim brings us closer together!
I went ahead and activated MS Reader using fictional data (the little voices were very insistent).
For those recent Axim readers who hear similar voices, can anyone detail how to use MS Reader w/o activating it?

Hey Paul ...I also have a MSN account. I don't receive spam in that account either.

I agree, I have 2 hotmail accounts and the amount of spam is incredible.
And let's see, do I take the Viagra, invest in the only sure way to make $10,000 a month part time, get my house refinanced, or get a new mini-car -- oh the choices.
And then there are the girls that just want to be my escort...Thelma, Bambi and Nadia, decisions, decisions?
