Can you advise on WMDC w/Vista?

Hi Mahstah,

If this message is in wrong area please move it and I willfind it.
I've been fairly happy with my HP IPAQ hx2795b since I last talked to you and Pedah. I've had a few problems here and there but all resolved. I have numerous programs installed and all seem to run well. On a soft reset it runs slow when restarting but that is about it. Once it kicks in everything runs fine.

On to my question. I believe you run Windows Vista so I thought you might be able to give me some general guidance when trying to run the WMDC. I have reinstalled it a few times but always get a sync error that says "The server could not be reached" and it doesn't sync. It recognizes my device as "Windows Mobile 2". I don't know why it won't accept "Windows Mobile" instead and can't fix that. It sees my device as named "Frank_Amaral" and says connected. I'm running Windows Vista Home Premium on a new HP desktop. New to Vista so don't know very much. If you have any ideas how I can get WMDC to sync my PDA I would appreciate it. Windows Mobile Firewall is off and I run Norton Internet Security Firewall but I don't think that has much to do with it.

Maybe you or Pedah can shed some light on this nagging problem I have. Would really appreciate hearing from you.

Hi Frank, long time, I don't have vista but I do know there have been a lot of updates, even this week, make sure you have the latest version of WMDC. This is theory now, because it calls your device _2, I'd say you've set up more than one partnership inadvertently, I've had that problem before. I don't know if going back to activesync theory will help, is there a way to delete the partnerships on the PC and the iPaq and start again?

Hi Frank-

I've read that disabling advanced USB functionality in the USB to PC setting helps with that error. If that doesn't work you could try deleting all of your partnerships and starting fresh.
