In light of more news coming out on Longhorn, I thought I would check out what is being used currently. Sorry not to include Mac and Linux OS's, but I was staying with a Longhorn theme.

I have been extremely happy with XP, ultra stable. I haven't had to do a reinstall since I bought XP Pro about a year ago. :w00t: And I abuse my machine quite a bit...

I like XP, it really is more stable than the others (of course I am biased - I am a MS Office Cert. Trainer). It isn't necessarily the best of all OSs , but it is 'THE OS' for the world right now.
And of course when Longhorn comes out I will be the 4th in line...I don't like to be first, let someone else find all the wonderful hidden extras that come out first. :P

I LOVE Windows XP Pro, however, I am having some issues with it and might have to do my 3rd reinstall of the OS. I tinker with my system a lot more than most people though... For example, I can't see any network connections, ie. I can't change my TCP/IP properties on this machine. It's a drag.

At home I run XP and 2000. I'm relatively happy with XP but I think I like 2000 better. It's probably the familiarity quotient.
Well, that an my XP box (Which is identical hardware to the 2000 boxen) has to have the wireless connection manually refreshed if ~12 hours pass without being used. I've swapped cards between boxes, and it still occurs. Grrr... On my list of things to fix.
At work, where I primarily use my Axim, I support (as in it breaks, I fix... the joys of being a computer tech.) 98, ME, NT, XP, OS9.6, OS10, Redhat, and FreeBSD.
My machine, is an insipid 400mhz Dell Optiplex, running Win98. The joys of being a new hire and being told I have to wait for year-end money before I get a decent machine. (Which is why I use my axim at work, it crashes less often the my PC.)

Work: Win2K, RH 7.2, Solaris 8. Systems administrator and Java developer.
Home: Win XP Pro, RH 7.x, various other Linuxes (Linuxi? Lini?) There's a Mac here, too, but it's a paperweight.

I primarily run XP pro on both of my boxes. My wife's box is only XP pro. My box varies with different distros of linux.
I am currently looking into iBooks and may begin to get my feet wet with Mac... Any recommendations in that arena?

Only one: the 17" PowerBook, as shown by Verne Troyer. Talk about geek lust...that would be the first place I would spend four grand if I had it to spend.
