Depeche Mode rocks! I used to listen to them all of the time when I was in high school.
I was a fan of the heavy metal for the most part, Iron Maiden was one of my favorites. Then of course the hair bands.....Ratt, Quiet Riot, Poison......I look back at those concerts and just think.....why did I ever like this stuff.....
I like to listen to industrial/heavy stuff now still.....Nine Inch Nails (Trent is really talented!), Marylin Manson, Tool, etc.....

luckily, i never liked any 80s metal with the exception of Metallica and Megadeth. But i couldnt stand iron maiden or judas priest, or any of the power ballad groups. *cringes*
NIN is probably my faveorite group of all time. Trent is a f***ing genious.

- Rancid

I havent heard the CD yet, only clips, but what i heard its pretty awesome (esp with the band lineup!)

In the CD player right now is Meatloaf "Bat out of Hell."
Played Today: Milla Jovavich "Divine Comedy" (She acts, looks hot and sings!), Weird Al "Running With Scissors", Dead Can Dance "Toward the Within", Garmarna "Vengeance" (Think techno-medieval) and the "Ghost in the Shell" soundtrack.
Favorite Bands in no particular order: NIN, Gaelic Storm, Dead Can Dance, Enigma, Brian Setzer Orchestra, Depeche Mode, Traci Lords (yes the porn star made a techno album produced by Trent!), Santana, Red Elvises, Erasure, Gary Numan, Bauhaus (and of course Peter Murphy), and Yo-Yo Ma. I also tend to listen to a lot of new-wave 80's mix cd's (Toto, men-at-work, etc...)
My wife introduced me to Rammstein, but I mostly listen to them during ye old morning commute.
My favorite "Recent Discovery" band has to be split into categories:
Best Irish/celtic/acoustical: Gaelic Storm, these guys were the below-decks band on the Titanic. (I got to see them in concert and Wow!)
Best Surf Guitar/Swing: Red Elvises, If you haven't already, go rent "Six String Samurai" Great movie, great soundtrack and they make a cameo.
Best Classical/New age: Josh Groban. He's 21 and the most perfect vocal control of any human being I've ever heard before.
If I had to recommend a single band that people should listen too it would be Dead Can Dance. While it may not be everyone's cup of tea since they re-create medieval music with modern instruments, they are incredible instrumentalists who've influence as diverse group as NIN, David Bowie, Bauhaus, Sioxsie and the Banshees, Type O Negative, and others...
