Spontaneous Reboots = ActiveSync?

New Axim 5. WinXP Pro, stable and happy.

Install ActiveSync.

Things seem OK, but any old time, out of the blue, no apparent pattern, the system reboots!

Only happens when Axim is in the cradle. No problem with AS running in the System Tray. Just don't leave the Axim in the cradle...

Any ideas?

Yup. The PC desktop. No other apparent problem with the desktop or the Axim, just the reboots....

I didn't see AS 3.6 it on the Dell site yet, so I figured I'd play it safe. Think I should try the upgrade?

Someone suggested the problem might be with the power supply on the desktop PC, but it's a 430 Antec. Hard to believe it's the power supply...

Tried it again today. Absolutely random, but only when the Axim is in the cradle. ABout once an hour....

You can download ActiveSync 3.6 from http://www.pocketpc.com.
I don't think ActiveSync would do this, but you can try these:

Plug another USB device to where your Axim is currectly connected, and see if that device will reboot your system.

You can also plug the cradle to another USB port to see if you can replicate the problem.

Best yet, plug the Axim on another PC. If the problem doesn't happen, then it is you PC.
