I want a good mp3 player for my axim when it arrives. So for all you that already have yours, is WMP good or is there something cooler (ie, better features, eye candy, etc.)
I did see an MP3 player "Pocket Music" that (if you buy it) you can use WA2 skins.. thats pretty sweet. Anyway any input would be cool, either for WMP or another player.

I only use Window Media Player for MP3s, and all of my co-workers uses it also.
With my Pocket PC Phone, I even use it to connect to my car stereo with a cassette adapter, so I can listed to my music. Here is the kicker, when a phone call comes in, WMP pauses and allows me to talk to the caller and hear him on the speakers. When the conversation is over, WMP resumes.
There is a WinAmp available for the Pocket PC. Give WMP a try first, then make your decision after that.

Try PocketMusic too, like you said. I think it has the best sound, because you can adjust the tones with the eqaulizer. I think their site is www.pocketmind.com
Here is screenshot I took:
The only problem I have with it, is that it says all the lengths of the songs are over 9 minutes..but I think thats just something that happend to it, because it didn't do that when I installed it before.
Good luck
Adam

Is there a way to control an audio player on my desktop PC from my Axim? With all my MP3s on the desktop, and the sound card on the desktop hooked into the stereo, I can play the MP3s on the stereo from the desktop. Now I want to play them from anywhere in the house, using the Axim as a controller.
I've been looking around for some kind of remote desktop program, which would let me control any application on the desktop PC, including an audio player, from the Axim. That would be the easy way. The hard way would be to find or write code for a desktop audio player, and then add a TCP/IP interface, and then write a client for Pocket PC to communicate with the desktop audio player. Anybody see an easier way?

I'm using the Pocket Music player. One problem I've seen is that it associates .m3u file types, but it doesn't seem to actually play streaming mp3 files.
As far as a remote desktop player, it would be great if somebody wrote an plugin for WinAmp or something that would let you control the desktop player from the PPC. Another approach would be to use a VNC client application for remote desktop control.

Yes, im sure RommelS could answer the question better, but i believe you want to get the VNC client... you will be able to do more than control your mp3s from your axim. Here is the topic discussion.

Musicmatch jukebox is a really excellent PC desktop mp3 player/organizer, and apparently has a Pocket PC plug-in available. Has anyone tried it?

Ive used MMJB. Winamp is way cooler. 3.0 is an amazing release, tons of features, better (freeform) skins, alpha blends, lots of music organizing features (the new Media Libary, in wich you can query just about anything.. really handy for huge 'p3 collections).
I havent found a player that competes with Winamp.

I liked WinAMP but never got it to run stably for more than a few hours at a time, it would lock up in a loop (maybe that was just my setup).
It would be cool to have WinAMPs visualizations running on your PPC screen though. That would be a real party conversation-piece ( and play hell with the battery life).

Most deffinitley. Strange about your lockups.... Have you tried the new version? 3.0 was officially released in like september i think. I'd been using it since the beta (like February). Before that i pretty much just used WMP... but that thing is so huge.. and there isnt alot of development for it. So if you havent, get winamp 3.0
