Need Help > Digital Camera to Axim?

I took my compactflash card out of my digital camera and plugged it into my Axim, but I'm having trouble viewing the pictures and mini-movies.
The pictures are jpegs (Does anyone know a good pic viewer program?) and the mini-movies are avi. I think Canon encodes the avi differently though because I'm having a lot of trouble playing them on the axim.

I would like to just plug in my cf card from my camera and view them right away on the axim. Any recommendations?

I believe that a lot depends on how your camera formats the card. For instance, I have a Nikon CoolPix 885 camera. I took some snapshots and put the CF card in my Axim and was able to drill to them using the File Explorer.

The Nikon actually added a couple of layers of folders to the CF card so they were not at the root and I had to dig for them, but I did find them.

One thing you can do is put your CF card in, do a Start/Find, and look on your CF card for anything *.jpg

I know exactly what you need! I also ran into this problem with my S200. Only real issue is the fact that the program is $20, free trial for 30 days. For viewing just pictures, I just use the view that came on the Axim CD.

Here's what I found out (I also have a G2). The Canon does not create a "true" AVI video. It is a derivative called "motion-AVI". I don't know much about this format, although most desktop players that handle AVI will play both formats just fine.

That being said, there is only one PPC program that I know of that will play "motion-AVI" files.

I've seen it for myself - I was able to pop out the CF card from my camera, pop it into my Axim, and play the movie right away. It shows up as "MVI_0581.AVI" and it was a 7mb file. I left it on the CF card, put the card back in the camera, and was able to upload it to my desktop PC later that day.
