I have an Ipaq 3955 alongside my Axim. I am currently having a problem with my Ipaq. It seems that when I uninstalled a program, something that should not have been deleted did in fact get deleted. I tried doing a restore from a previous backup, but there are some .dll files missing somehere in the machine. What I am wondering is would a hard reset solve my problem? Or, would I be stuck with the problem? The restore process was not interrupted, but I got an error message saying that there were 2 files that could not be restored. Those were those .dll files. Now, my Ipaq seems to take it upon itself to "freeze" when it sees fit, or come up with an error message that has no text in the box. Can I get this machine back to the way it was when I bought it? Or, am I s.o.l...

Okay, so I have been reading a lot of forums and supports pags on Ipaqs. I think I sucessfully confused myself. When you do a ROM update, does that "give you a new OS" or "just update th needed items". My Ipaq has version 1.11 for the rom that is in it now, but there is a older version that is 1.1 Would it work to put that on it, then re-update? What I am trying to do is basically start from scratch on the thing....kinda like C:/format on a desktop then reinstall the OS

This boggles my mind, I can develop programs to work with my Ipaq and Axim, but I can't figure this out.

I beleive it only updates the needed items. It's not like a reformat re-install. At leat I don't think it is. I had to update the ROM on my Toshiba several times (piece of junk).
