I always used screen protectors with my Casio E-125. I believe this is the reason that I only have one tiny scratch on the screen after over 3 years of use. For the first few months of use I did not use screen protectors and that's why the scratch is there. For this reason, after purchasing my new Dell Axim X3i I immediately began researching screen protectors. In the past i've used disposable screen savers, the thing of the future seems to be reusuable screen savers. After doing a bit of research I decided to go with the
Boxwave Cleartouch Protector
After receiving the product I waited a few days before I actually installed it as I always do because these little things can be a real pain in the butt. I was pleasantly surprised to find that this product was an exception to that rule. The product comes bundled in a cardboard sleeve and then is inside a plastic bag. Once you take it out, you pull the backing off which exposed the mild adhesive that is on the back. You have to make sure you clean your screen really well before applying or every little thing that's on it will be amplified by the protector. You also need to make sure that you're in a room with as little air flow as possible because as soon as you remove the adhesive every little dust particle will attach to it and if you have to have it in the air for more than a few seconds it'll look like crap.
I attached the protector to my X3i with little or no hassle, it fit perfectly and there is maybe 1mm of space at the top of the unit but this is only because I placed it under the lip of the bottom of the screen but i'm ok with that. After placing it on I used the straight edge of the cardboard packing to smooth it out and there were no bubbles at all left. I turned on the unit and from the today screen, which I use the default background, I could see a bunch of little fibres underneath the screen so my "still air" room choice was bad. But, the anti-glare capabilities of this protector are very nice. I work in a light harsh office and this thing helps a great deal. It also doesn't feel rough under the stylus like other protectors i've used so i'm very happy with that. I can not vouch for the "improves handwriting recognition" claim as it just doesn't seem any better so i'm not sure how they're making this claim.
The Boxwave Cleartouch Protector is a nice product, for $12.95 plus shipping you can have very good protection that is reusable for your pocket pc. It helps with Glare, doesn't hold fingerprints and will keep your screen scratch free. I'd definately recommend this product for your new or existing pda.
