I've been the Marine Corps for 13 years serving around the world as a Combat Correspondent and the X5 has opened up a new method of getting the shot and getting it back to the rear. With the X5's CF Type II slot I use a Pharaos GPS to verify my location, shoot digital images (Nikon D-1H) for intelligence and operations planning or external release to civilian newspapers, view the images, write a AP VIRIN & caption and transmit via a Sprint CF2031. This changes the entire dynamic of Photojournalism. So far every "test" seems to work well, however the major drawbacks are slow transmit speeds, possible damage to the X5 in a true "expeditionary" environment and the lack of a Sprint PCS signal in a future warzone, but it is a step in the right direction. I'm having a blast!
