The three programs I was looking at are Typango from Handango, Full Screen Keyboard from SPB, and Kilmist Kayboard from Kilmist.
All three offer trial versions, and all three show in landscape view when at full screen. Any one of the three would provide a faster way to do stylus typing, since the landscape screens are larger than the "mini-keyboard" provided with the Axim and have larger "keys."
Both Typango and Full Screen Keyboard are accessible while in applications such as MS Word --- a real plus. Kilmist Keyboard works differently: all typing is done in the typing application, then copied and pasted into the application you wish to use --- definitely a less convenient process in most cases. Typango can use this copy-and-paste method also, though I'm not sure why one would choose it over typing right into an app.
My main goal for my own information was to evaluate how well these keyboards work for thumb-typing. With both Typango and Full Screen I experienced difficulty typing without getting neighboring characters by mistake, even with my small fingers, so I'm sure this would be a problem for many. I think this would improve with practice, but I'm not sure I have the patience to put in the time. From the little I got to work with the Kilmist before the trial period ran out, I think it was easier to be more accurate, though the copy-and-paste used up at least part of the time saved by being able to key faster.
Personally, I am now leaning more toward putting a real thumb keyboard on my Christmas list.
