Review on the Tungsten |T2
Hay....eventough here at Aximusers.com, 3000 people are using PPC (the Axim of course). I have written a short review of a Palm devise. It's not as long as my PPC review because I wanted to know how would Axim members react to this...Hope you like it.
History:
The Tungsten T2 is a major upgrade from its bro the Tungsten T, but it's more of an update than a new Palm much like the m505 to the m515.
What's new:
-New TFT screen
-32mb which 29mb useable
-New paint on the TT2
-Comes with updated or needed software that the TT doesn't have.
-Palm OS 5.2.1
Screen :
The screen is much greater then the TT screen. Its bright..more brighter then an Axim's screen (sorry you guys). It comes with the usual 320 x 320 pixels which the TT had that would make the Axim screen look ....well you'll be the judge. But because of the static graffiti....the TT2 screen is puny compare to the Axim.
Memory :
It comes with 32mb which 29 is useable, but if you are really hardcore PPC users who normally used its built in memory for Mp3, then forget about the TT2 because it would not allowed you to store music in it's built in memory. But you are however allowed to store mp3 on SD card in the TT2 SD slot.
Paint :
The overall design of the TT2 are the same as the TT...the only difference are there colors, which the TT has a gunmetal like color unlike the TT2 that has about the same coular as the Axim.....just a little tough.
New software:
Unlike the TT which lack a built in software to play Mp3 files...the TT2 comes with Real One Player to play mp3s. Sound quality are great but can be improved because the TT2 lack depth in sound quality which the Axim has.
New Updated OS:
It comes with Palm OS 5.2.1. What's in it...?. Well for one, you can changed the Themes from the background much like the today screen on the PPC platform, but it lacks third party website that would gave you more themes.
Weight :
The TT2 weight is about 150g unlike the Axim's 190g. But eventough its more lighter...you can fill the weight when you put it in you're pocket...why?....because its made of Tungsten or heavy Mattel!. So it would hurt you're leg from the pounding of the TT2 in you're pocket. But eventough it made of Tungsten, there is some chipping from the paint because some of the painting had came of!.
Is it worth it buy:
Is it worth to buy it to replace you're Axim? well...... if Palm OS supports multi tasking then yes, but for now...a BIG NO!. Why...well the Axim for ones has dual expansion slot, more bigger screen, and has a 300mhz to 400mhz with a price lesser then the TT2. But for a Palm user.....hmm....perhaps. If I were a TT user maybe I would sell it and buy the TT2 for the 32mb, not the screen because you can really see the difference only if you put it side by side.
Pros:
*29mb
*TFT screen
*Palm OS 5.2.1
*More bundle software came with it
*Lower price then the original TT
Cons:
*Static Graffiti
*Mp3 are not as great as PPC's mp3
*Not so tough as it's name
*All are done using Pocket Word
