Seagate makes a microdrive that users report success with, but stay away from OEM types and get the retail type. Any microdrive will drain your battery more than any solid state drive.
Any SD storage should work for you with little battery drain.

Thanx for the info,
I think I will buy a 4gb SD, does anyone know of a place for good prices, I saw some decent prices on Newegg.com. I thought I am also thinking of getting an 8 Gb Microdrive from Seagate. How do I know if it will work with the Axim 51v. I put the 2 links below of the items I have in mind....can someone let me know if they have had success with this, thanx.

I'm using a 4gb seagate microdrive. It's the orange one packaged for use cameras. I formated it FAT 32 and it works fine. I haven't noticed any major decrease in battery life.

I purchased an 8Gb Seagate MD last week. Popped it in my x51v and works a treat. One tip, it can be difficult to get the MD out. Attach some tape to the drive before inserting so you can pull it out again (don't cover the hole)

I have a 1gb sandisk cf card and a 1gb sd card and they never seem to show up in the file explorer. Do you have to install them, or do I have to download drivers for them?
Thanks for any help

No install, no drivers necessary. Ensure you've formatted them properly with FAT 32 to be able to view them from the PDA's File Explorer.

Right CF/SD card? what is the default format for standard retail cards, not locked to individual device such as one you might extract from an iPod, FAT FAT16 Fat32, do CF/SD cards support NTFS ? YET. I've got 5 different cards and no card reader for PC they all work in axim, never had to change format, pondering

Do the microdrives show up as a storage card on the PDA?

Microdrive or CF, if they are compatable, whatever is in your CF slot will show as CF on device.
