Since the release of the Dell Axim X5 last November (2002), a plethora of accessories for the device flooded the Axim market, and adding to them is Styrite (
Styriteusa.com), a whole new company that sell PDA accessories for the Dell Axim and other PDAs. Visiting Styrite website, you will notice that they offer a range of PDA accessories from a multi-purpose pen to chargers, but one that will stand out from their entire product is the Combo Pack.
Features
In this review, even though I will focus on the Combo Pack, I will also give my impressions on the rest of the Styrite’s products, the Arno 641 4 in 1 Multi-purpose pen and the additional chargers that are available seperately.
Let me start by saying that from the moment I opened the combo pack's re-usable case, I was impressed right away. The combo pack came with a retractable sync cable and charger, a screen protector, a washable cleaning cloth, and the revolutionary flip pen, the P-Arno 661.
Retractable Sync and Charger Cable
The cable is almost over two feet long when extended, and about four inches long when retracted. It definitely gives you the ability to carry it with you all the time.
Synchronization and charging with the Axim wasn’t a problem at all. I charged my battery starting from 80 battery life to 100 percent, and the charge was slow. I’m guessing that it was design that way to protect the battery and the device itself. Remember what happened to the iPaq with some cable that has the same feature?
Screen Protector (StyFilm)
To be honest, I’m not really a big fan of screen protector because to me the screen doesn’t respond to my taps and it doesn’t recognize my hand gestures when using the built-in Letter Recognizer. Using the Styrite protector, it felt that my taps are responsive, and it gave me better control when using Letter Recognizer.
Cleaning Cloth (Magic Cloth)
Of course prior to putting the Styfilm, you have to clean the screen. With the Magic Cloth, you don’t need any other solvent, or what ever cleaning material you use to clean your Axim screen. The cloth easily wipes dust and finger prints that on your screen. To further test the cloth, I used it on my oil-face soiled Pocket PC Phone Edition screen. What can I say; it cleaned it right away with a few strokes.
Flip-top Stylus (P-Arno 661)
The P-Arno 661 is a dual purpose pen that you can carry with you all the time. You can use the pen as a stylus, and with a simple twist and flip, you can start signing documents. What’s impressive about the pen is the way it feels, although it is only about four inches long, the pen feels like a regular size pen, and it is balance.

Complimentary Add-Ons for the Retractable Sync and Charger Cable
Of course to fully utilize the sync and charger cable, you may separately purchase wall and car charger. These two add-ons are a great addition to the combo pack, especially if you travel a lot. In fact now I can charge my Axim without the regular power supply and cradle.
P-Arno 641
If there is anything that I don’t like about the Dell Axim is the flat stylus that comes with it, so when I use it, I use a multi-purpose pen. I’m not ignorant when it comes to a multi-purpose pen since I own two other, but what I like about the P-Arno 641 is the way the ink flows. It is balance, and the pen is easy to grip and doesn’t slip from your fingers.
As for any multi-purpose pen, the P-Arno 641, it comes with 0.5 mechanical pencil, red and black ink pen, and stylus point. For a $14.99 value, this is a bargain compare to other multi-purpose pen that cost over $20.
Wish List
I do wish that Styrite sells individual screen protector or packs soon because I really like their screen protector. I found my screen protector.
Conclusion
When purchasing accessories for your device, it is hard to find good quality for the value that you’ve paid for, let alone in a package. Styrite has broken that trend by producing top of the line accessories in single package. I highly recommend this product to everyone.
