Piel Frama has been manufacturing leather goods since 1960 in Spain. They started selling mobile phone covers in the United States in 1984 even before mobile phones arrived in Spain, and a few years down the road when PDA also became popular, they came out with their own version of the Dell Axim case.
I’ve been using the Piel Frama Dell Axim Case for a few weeks now, and here are my initial impressions about their product.
The Box
From the moment I received the product, I was already impressed with what I saw. Piel Frama Dell Axim Case came in an elegant looking box, and of course, inside comes the case and clip holder.

The Case
The case itself is made of genuine cow skin leather (veal – young cows), and it comes in black, tan or black/tan colors. The case is soft to the touch, and I’ve noticed that the lining was professionally done.
Piel Frama Dell Axim cases also come in with an ostrich and crocodile skin, but are considered Luxurious PDA Case line.

Design
The case design is simple but elegant with an executive look.
The 3 Credit Card (which also protects the screen when cards are inserted) and 2 MMC slots are behind the cover of the case, which is the de facto style on this type of PDA case design. Do remember to install a protective cover on the screen to avoid any scratches from the edge of the credit card(s).
The cover and the back part of the case are padded, and are design to absorb low intensity accidental bumps and shocks, and it also gives it a nice feel to it.
The case was designed to protect the entire device except on parts where you need to have access on device; record button, reset button, jog dial, SD and CD slots, headphone jack, power supply, and sync cable connector. All are easily accessible thanks to the precise cuts on the case.
Side access to the device's jog dial and record button are right on the spot
CF and MMC slots are easily access
Fitting
Every corner of the case fits perfectly with the device. The device can easily be removed and inserted with little effort, but strong enough to hold the Axim in place – a very big plus in this department, especially if you have to connect the device to the cradle.
The magnetic system closure was also impressive on keeping the protective cover in place.
Price
The case is priced at $69.95, and can be purchased at MobilePlanet, or you may purchase it directly from Piel Frama (
http://www.pielframa.com) for 60 Euros.
Conclusion
Piel Frama put a lot of thoughts in the design of their Dell Axim case. With 18 years experience specializing with creating mobile cases, they didn’t cut any corners on any aspect of the design and work. The price range of the case is reasonable for its work and details. With the executive and elegant look and design of the case, the price is well worth it. I highly recommend this case.
