Pharos GPS-500 and Dell Axim x51v help...

I have been trying to get my Dell Axim x51v to find my new Pharos GPS-500 received through the compact flash ii adapter and cannot get it to find the gps receiver. I was curious to know what settings the external gps settings need to be at. I have the Ostia 7.6 software, but would like to use Garmin Mobile XT if possible? Any ideas or help would be great.
