Another option could be one of those little pyramid remote extenders. You could put one on an endtable (or somewhere close enough) and the other pretty much anywhere you needed.

Update:

The CF Extender has a new version out and it is said to work with the Axim now. So here is a link, they are out of stock, but if anyone decides to get it, please post on how well it works.

I'm in the same boat at the originator of this thread. I've got an Axim, and the PDAwin remote control software, but the company that makes the CF Extender cards seems to have disappeared from the web. The website no longer exists, and the company that managed their credit card purchases cancelled my order because they'd heard nothing from Electric Dog in 6 weeks.

There is an "UltraMote Extender" that seems to be similar, but it claims to only work with that software, not PDAwin. (Anyone with counter-experience?)

Anyone have luck building the booster spec'd on the PDAwin site? It looks pretty simple, but perhaps that's because I haven't a good clue of what its doing.

I know that the iPaq's have what they call "consumer" grade IR. Apperantly there are a few different grades of IR. Industrial, Consumer, and well...ghetto. :P I guess thats why these extenders work better with the iPaq.

Now, I have Nevo universal remote control software, and I love it. It's fantastic. I have each room in my house on here, and I can also use it to turn on light with IR plug adapters. With the downloads, this is one of my favorite programs.

So if you get an IR extender, I suggest you try Nevo out. www.mynevo.com.
