Axim X5 Bluetooth and GPS Problems

Please can someone help me!
I cannot make my Axim X5 hold a bluetooth connection . The equipment and software I am using is as follows:

Axim X5
Pocket PC 2003 (Upgraded from 2002 by following an excellent guide on this site)
CF Bluetooth Card by CC&C FCC ID PANBT0101M
CF Card Driver Widcomm BTWCE version 1.31.46
TomTom Navigator 5.21
BT 77 GPS

What keeps happenning is the bluetooth manager connects to the GPS and then after 2 minutes it disconnects everytime, actually its 2.24mins because I am getting so fed up I timed it. When it closes it goes to bluetooth browser and either does nothing or hangs. Someone has told me its comm port problems but I am unsure if it is this or what and where to change them. I also forgot to say it will not let me pair with the GPS. I know the GPS works (I think) because a mate connected quickly with it using his IPAQ. The TomTom website says 5.21 is so called compatable with Axim X5, but I,m starting to think I wasted my money.

I have trawled this site for answers but cannot find any, please can anyone help with clear instructions.

Did you make your X5 BT discoverable while you tried pairing it? The corrupted serial port enrty fix can be found on this thread. Hope you get it going-

PaulH.

I can assure you that TT5.21 is fully compatible with the X5. I have 4 members of staff using this combination daily and also know of at least another 5 that I have set us and supplied. Admittedly all using either wired or CF GPS, none using BT.

Make sure that the ROM on your x5 is either A04 or A05 and if needed upgade this. A05 is better in this instant.

The next thing I would do is download and install the X5 - CF timing update from Dell.com. I cannot say that this will fully cure the problem, but it does sound as for some reason it is a problem between the CF card and axim. This might cure the problem.

Let us know how you get on.

Exclamation It now half works, but not the half I want!

Dear All

I have tried the advice given and updated the CF timing from dell and the switcher bar and audio driver. I am using the A05 upgrade. Using the thread quoted I found my way to the 'other axim site' and followed the advice below.

Mobile 2003 - BlueTake BT100S CF installation:

I used the following steps should get the BT100S working under Mobile 2003 but unfortunately it also seems to stop the Power Button working. The only way to turn the Axim on is to perform a soft reset.

During installation the WIDCOMM Bluetooth driver assigns COM2 as it's 'inbound COM Port' this causes the USB to be reassigned to COM3. This conflicts with the IrCOMM driver which is also assigned to COM3 and therefore cannot be activated. The WIDCOMM Bluetooth driver also assigns COM1 as it's 'outbound COM Port'

The solution is to reassign the WIDCOMM inbound COM Port to COM7, this allows the USB to revert to COM2 and the IrCOMM can be correctly activated on COM3 and to reassign the WIDCOMM outbound COM Port to COM6.

After successfully installing the BlueTake card use a registry editor to make the following changes.

1. With a registry editor rename the key:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Drivers\BuiltIn\Serial2

to

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Drivers\BuiltIn\Serial7

2. for this new key HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Drivers\BuiltIn\Serial7

change the following value of DeviceArrayIndex from 2 to 7

change the following value of Index from 2 to 7

3. For the key

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\WIDCOMM\BtConfig\Servi ces\0001

change the following value of ComPortNumber from 2 to 7

4. With a registry editor rename the key:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Drivers\BuiltIn\Serial1

to

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Drivers\BuiltIn\Serial6

5. for this new key HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Drivers\BuiltIn\Serial6

change the following value of DeviceArrayIndex from 1 to 6

change the following value of Index from 1 to 6

6. For the key

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\WIDCOMM\BtConfig\Appli cations\0001

change the following value of ComPortNumber from 1 to 6

The X5 will now stay happy connected to the BT GPS using GPS Viewer (it is now 15 min +)software BUT as usual the connection hangs with TomTOM Nav 5.21 as soon as I connect or within a minute. I have noticed that in the 5.21 settings for choosing which GPS it is only giving me Com 1 and 2 but I am on 6 and 7 now.

Please can anyone help?

I have now done a hard reset, reinstalled all sofware and the com ports for the BT using the widcomm 1.3.1.46 has gone back to 1 and 2.
As I said the X5 using GPS Viewer software via BT to the GPS stays connected.
In TomTom BT serial 1 and 2 are recogised and the software connects, but it only holds for less the a minute and BT browser cuts in to reconnect and then nothing.
Does anyone have any ideas to stop it cutting out and/or can tell me what are on the com ports and does anyone know of any software to configure them? Also does anyone know of a updated widcomm driver for the CC&C BT0101M.
I am sure this is someting simple, please can someone help.
