I just noticed that on top of the wi-fi attenna of my x3i, there is a Bluetooth logo?? Does this mean that it's Bluetooth enabled, we just need the software?? Why would there be a logo if it's not there?

It was originally planned that the X3 would come with BT, and that is the reason why you have that BT logo on the attenna, but for some reason, BT didn't make it to production.
Unfortunitely, you will need a whole new Axim X3 if you want BT.

I recently read Dell did not include the BT option because of price effect on the unit, which Dell thought would be too expensive. It is said that Dell will release the Axim with Integrated WiFi and Bluetooth in the Fall here is the States

By the FALL?? By this time the new Motorola will be out. It will have integrated Bluetooth, WiFi, IR, GSM, GPRS... built in keyboard and built in 1.3 Megapixel camera.
If Dell waits until Fall, they will have to introduce the Bluetooth-enabled Axim at a comparitively low price point to remain competitive.

The BT enabled X3i is available on the UK Dell site now!
I do hope there is a patch to enable it on my week old X3i.
Does anybody know if the hardware is actually already inside the X3i wireless to get bluetooth capability or is it something Dell have had to fit as an extra?
Here's hoping it's already there.

I dont think they would spend the money to build blue-tooth into the x3i and not tell anyone. If the hardware is built-in you would know, especially if one of the reasons for not giving it blue-tooth was price, there is no way they would waste it all. Does that seem right Axim X3i?

Well you see, I really don't have any idea on the BT situation other than what I read and typed above. Since Dell has had it planned to add BT into the X3i, I don't see why they would piss all of us X3i owners off and leave us with out an update/patch since the device costs a good $300-$400. If you goto settings->connects-> new modem connect you can select the type of modem to use and BT is an option, although we can't use it. I really do not have any idea other than (hoping) Dell offering a patch in the near future to us X3i owners. Hopefully it will be all you need. Possibly Dell wanted to see how their sales would go with the X3i and see if the consumers would really want and use the BT feature. But then again, this is another reason for them to jack the price on the new unit. If I see anything, I will be sure to post.

Interesting! I just bought an X3I and haven't even got it yet! The entire reason for buying it and installing an internal BT card on my laptop was to home network.... Dell claims it is capable of BT which suggests appropriate hardware. Hope I didn't spend money for nothing! Any idea where we can find out for sure what's going on with it?
OOPS.... did a little research and found this article. Looks like we may have to wait.
