T68i & Axim via bluetooth to Internet

Hi,
I was finally able to connect Axim to internet via T68i through bluetooth CF. I have Cingular as my wirless sevice provider.

The Cingular customer service is very poor. They could not help me to set up the Data connect so I went to following web site and got instruction on how to connect my T68I cell phone and Axim via Ambicom Bt-2000 CF card to surf the web.

Dell Axim 400 Mhz
Ambicom BT-2000 CF/PCMCIA card [Bluetooth CF card with PCMCIA adaptor for laptop $78 at Amazon.com]
Ericsson T68i cell phone.

Please find following set up for connection.

OK, heres a summary.
For T68i
1. First Goto 'Connect' from the menu
2. Option 5 'Data Comm.'
3. Option 1 'Data accounts'
4. Select 'Add Account' if you haven't made a seperate entry for this yet, otherwise edit the account you want & skip to #7
5. select 'GPRS data'
6. Enter a name for the new account, i used 'Cingular ISP' but it doesn't matter.
7. Enter the 'APN' 'ISP.CINGULAR' (I think it may matter if it is capital or not, didn't work till I changed it to capital)
8. Enter the userid 'WIXDC001@W5.MYCINGULAR.COM' (it IS case sensitive)
9. Enter the password 'ZXY203DC9K0402' (it IS case sensitive)
10. Make sure the rest of the settings are default,esp. AdvanceSettings->Authentication->Normal. Select 'Save' / 'No' (if you are editing an existing entry) to exit this screen
11. Back on the 'Data accounts' menu, select the entry you just created / edited and record the CID value (3 in this case)

On your Dell Axim/Dell Laptop PC/Whatever
11. Setup a new dialup connection
12. For the phone # you want to enter '*99***3#' where '3' is the CID value from your phone of this new account you just set up.
13. When you attempt to connect on your PDA/computer for the username enter 'WIXDC001@W5.MYCINGULAR.COM' and for the password enter 'ZXY203DC9K0402'
14. Enjoy GPRS data connect!

It is great. Specially when I am travelling and can not find hotspot for Wi-Fi or land phone line.

Thanks for the post, but please tell me that username and password is a generic username and password for all Cingular users, and not your private username and password.

in defense of cingular, im sure they are not even allowed to give instructions on how to connect your axim via bluetooth to their phone, and even if they did (or think they know how) for their own legal safety they wouldnt say. (incase they give bad advice, since im sure not all employees, if any, are trained for this... plus it IS pretty new technology that isnt widely adopted yet.)

Yes, the user name and password is same for all cingular customer. It is amazing if you ask Cingular customer support to confirm the password and user name and Cingular will tell you to buy a $59 data connect kit.

Please don't by data connect kit for $59. If you got T68i and Bluetooth CF for Axim or Laptop then you just need the set up I described earlier.

So Cingular got great technology but the customer service really not traine to help cusotmer. Lots of green people in tech support.

Please make sure that you use all capital when entering the password and user name.
