Hi,
I had the same problem with a bluetooth card bought in Taiwan. My Axim kept shutting down or went to sleep to protect itself. I thought this shouldn't be so difficult and if it's such a hassle just to put the card in then it's not worth it. I returned the card to the store and got my money back and went down the street looking for another bluetooth card. I found one by Billionton at another shop. This time I made the shop owner try out the card before I paid any money. He couldn't get it work either. He also had another one which was the same model of bluetooth card I returned to the other store and it didn't work either.
I didn't give up and went to another store down the road (This is all in Taipei, Taiwan by the way) and found one by BlueTake technology. The shop owner said it was a little more money but he thought the company was better (It was made in Taiwan I think). The packaging was better than the other bluetooth cards I bought from the other stores. What I mean by packaging is a good set of instructions, excellent bluetooth software and installation, support, etc.
Anyway to finish up my story, the card works, and the software that comes with it is excellent. I hooked it up easily to my new Ericsson T68i cell phone and managed to dial out to my ISP too.
I say look at the packaging that comes with the bluetooth card. If they were too cheap or couldn't afford to put it all together for the consumer than their product is proably not that great.
