Cooler heads are prevailing all the way around.
I would like to apologize to the group for my ill-advised escalation of the rhetoric that appeared here. And I also apologize publicly and directly to RommelS for the heated and wrong-headed remarks I made about him.
RommelS wrote me a private message here suggesting that our behavior is less than helpful to the group. I wholeheartedly agree with that and publicly respond to him that his message to me showed a great deal of class, and a strong understanding of what forums like this are supposed to be about.
So if any of you are here to see where this silly little battle is headed, here's a recap: It's over and AximUsers have won.

Very helpful article, gardel. My education ought to be darn near complete before my Axim ever arrives!
Thanks, computer ninja, for monitoring this thread. It was getting a little out-of-character for this forum, which I've found to be generally a friendly and insult-free place.

Hmmm, well this post is good, see now I might be looking into the Bluetooth- Enabled Phone by Cingular.. that would be cool to have my PPC able to go on the internet just by having my phone near... Also one more thing, how long is the range of Bluetooth??

I get about 100 Feet. Give or Take a few. Also depends on walls, floors etc in the way.
Straightline from Hub to Axim about 120 Feet Max.

Most of the Bluetooth appliances available (including, I believe, all the BT CF cards you can use in the Axim and all BT enabled cell phones) are Class 2 Bluetooth with an estimated range of 10 meters (30 or so feet). There are Class 1 USB adapters available with a supposed range of up to 100 meters.
I've never found the 10 meter limit to be a problem. My cell phone stays in my pocket, I make calls on it using the voice controls on my BT headset, when I need to go online using my Axim it is in my hands. In other words, the bluetooth connectivity I use is all within arms reach.

Bluetooth is quite popular in the UK with numerous phones from many network providers on the market over the last 12 months.
The two standards have their uses and are good at what they were designed for.
I use Wi-Fi for networking - specifically ad-hoc networks which are present for a limited amount of time. I certainly wouldn't use BT for this.
I use Bluetooth for my PAN (personal Area Network). BT Headset to BT Phone to BT PDA to BT Printer. I couldn't use Wi-Fi for this.

Let's all hope we're not doing anything serious with Bluetooth. 30 meters? I could be in the next room sucking down every bit of data being sent and nobody would ever be the wiser.
Bluetooth has zero security. Don't believe the hype.
